FUN FLASHBACK (Especially for SYTYCD Fans)!!
1997 was a very good year for New York City Dance Alliance! In '97, A young Randi Lynn Strong (Randi Evans, now a top 20 finalist on the hit show 'So You Think You Can Dance'!) was our 1997 NYCDA National Female Junior Outstanding Dancer! She was in good company! Nick Lazzarrini (SYTYCD's Season 1 winner!) was her counterpart as the 1997 NYCDA National Male Junior Outstanding Dancer! That same year, Danny Tidwell (SYTYCD's Season 3 1st Runner Up!) was 1st Runner-up to Nick, with Travis Wall (Season 2 1st Runner Up!) in the wings! We've truly watched them all grow up! Top 20 SYTYCD Contestant Past NYCDA National Winner
We are so proud of all the NYCDA dancers that have come so far and been such a success on 'So You Think You Can Dance'! ANOTHER NYCDA alumni, Randi Evans, is now a Top 20 Contestant on the hit show 'So You Think You Can Dance'! Randi got her start right here with New York City Dance Alliance, winning the National Junior Female Outstanding Dancer award in 1997. That same year, the male winner of the NYCDA National Junior Outstanding Dancer award was Nick Lazzarini, who went on to become SYTYCD's Season 1 WINNER!! CONGRATULATIONS Randi and Nick and all the NYCDA stars of 'So You Think You Can Dance'! You make us all here at NYCDA very proud!

Here are some facts for another one of our hip hop teachers, Tony Testa. He has choreographed and danced for Janet Jackson, danced with Britney Spears on the VMA's. He recently choreographed Season 1 of Nickelodeon’s “Dance on Sunset”, as well as a music video for Miranda Cosgrove, (icarly) and for Danity Kane’s “Making The Band 4” Tour. Record an album where Tap is an instrument on the tracks. Get more people around the world to fall in love with Tap. Expand the DC Tap Festival and the LA Tap Festival so that more people around the world have funding to attend. Have millions of dollars so that I could make dance accessible to all people regardless of their socioeconomic status and own a dance center in New York City.

NYCDA Featured Dancer of the Week
The NYCDA Featured Dancer of the Week is Chelsea Thedinga. She was nominated by Graciela Adam. Chelsea is from Las Vegas, NV and inspires all of her fellow dancers at her studio, Inspire Dance Co. Graciela thinks she is a beautiful person and says that Chelsea is always there to help with things at her studio, so they are always thankful for that. She never messes around at dance conventions and is always focused. Graciela says, "When Chelsea dances...She is Life!" Congratulations Chelsea!!!
